Doctor Dapertutto Theatre, Meyerhold house

‘Doctor Dapertutto Theatre’ is an innovative project of N.Kugel, museum manager and theatre director. The commedia dell’arte style of theatre performance with puppets gained recognition and support. In the early 2000s the museum, dedicated to the unconventional Russian theatre director Vsevolod Meyerhold and the theatre group working in the museum were joined together. The newly born experimental theatre hired the all-male acting cast. This was due to the specific genre of the project, hard physical work, and it followed the guidelines and principles of Vsevolod Meyerhold, the great master of theatre production.

The present acting company includes professional actors, puppetteers, musicians. All the songs and musical pieces are performed live. The actors are also noted for their excellent dancing skills and movement techniques.

Doctor Dapertutto Theatre is a regular participant of national and international theatre festivals, is is one the most well-known theatres of the region. In 2005 the theatre was awarded the Penza Governer’s award for the achievements in literature, journalism and professioanal activities.
