House Museum of N.N. Burdenko
Nikolay Nilovich Burdenko (1876 – 1946), a native of Kamenka town, is the founder of the Soviet neurosurgery, chief surgeon of the Red Army, academician, the first president of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR, hero of Socialist Labour.
The memorial house museum of N.N. Burdenko dedicated to this famous surgeon is the only one in the country. Our eminent fellow countryman spent his childhood and adolescent years in this house.
The exposition contains a lot of unique memorial objects and progressively tells about origin and life of the great doctor and talented scientist, about his scientific heritage and ties of kinship.
The house museum is situated on the territory of the oldest regional clinical hospital named after N. Burdenko where he worked for a while being a young beginning surgeon. Two unique exhibits – case histories filled in N.Burdenko’s own handwriting – prove this fact.
The house museum exhibits the biggest national collection of materials about this outstanding doctor’s family.
