Children Railway Line is a favourite entertainment for small city residents and their parents. It is one of the city’s major attractions. The railway line started to operate in August 1985.
It is a narrow-gauge railroad with the engine and carriges running every hour in the mornings and afternoons. What makes this railway line unusual is that the operating staff are all children aged 9-15, hence the name Children Railway Line. The railway tracks traverse the woods at the outskirts of the city, near Sosnovka village. There are two stations on the route: Pionerskaya (with the roundabout and the train shed) and Sosnovka (deadend with two tracks). The journey time is 25 minutes.
The railway is controlled by electrical interlocking. There is radio communcation between the engines and loudspeaker communication in the carriages.
