The complex was opened in 2015 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of WWII victory.
The idea of cranes flying overhead was inspired by the poet Rasul Gamzatov’s lines: ‘Sometimes I think that soldiers, laid to rest in blood-soaked fields, in truth have turned to flying cranes’.
