Kurakins estate
Location
Address:Penza region, Serdobsky district, village Nadezhdino
The estate was built by Prince Alexander Kurakin, a statesman and a diplomat, near village Nadezhdino in the 1790s. The huge mansion on the banks of the Serdoba river was accompanies by the extensive park grounds in the English style.  
The tall stone fence surrounded the spacies three-storeyd mansion with columns and side wings. The boat peer with the pavilion were constructed at the bottom of the hill, the winding stairs connected them to the mansion. The huge park adjoining the northern part of the mansion covered the area of 100 ha and contained oak, maple and linden trees. A big orchard was created to the east from the house.
The mansion used to contain a lot of objects of luxury: bronze statues, French ceramics, Bohemian glassware, marble sculptures and other works of art. Currently the estate is in need of restoration.
